LabVIEW – An Engineering Programming Software
This engineering programming software is developed by National Instruments; and has a development history of more than 20 years and counting. For more information about the history of LabVIEW, please click this link.
To sum it up in one paragraph, LabVIEW provides a graphical programming environment with loads of software programming features that are similar to universal programming languages; but the key difference is that LabVIEW allows you to do your programming graphically rather than text-based. Which means that various functions that are required to form a program structure or sequence is represented in graphical form instead of pages of text; this will allow users to visually see the execution flow of the program in real-time.
There are other graphical programming software out there that are similar to LabVIEW; but so far, I find that LabVIEW provides one of the most comprehensive integration with hardware as well as other software; allowing data to be shared and computed.
The following videos and tutorials will give you a basic guide to familiarize yourself with LabVIEW and learn to pick it up as you progress. You can download a evaluation of LabVIEW from National Instruments website.
